I was talking to Jp and the over size sig and the moving sigs slow's down the forum on all the PC with dail up. I have no problem at home opening the pages but have noticed it at work as it has to waite a bit before down loading. So i guess the question should be. do we need to regulate our sig's so everyone can still open and vist the forums or just waite and see if its. causeing others to stop visiting. because of the down load time. ?? most cable and dsl machine shouldn't be bothered. but all the others. will see the slow processing. ??

I can change my sig if you guys want. I hadn't really given it to much thought when I posted it, but I guess you're right. I honestly don't believe that any of the sigs here, besides mine and Rat's, are going to cause much of a problem as far as the size taking people awhile to download.
So I guess the question is, does anyone experience slow download time when viewing the site? It is somewhat slow when I view the site from school, but it's not too bad.
In answering the question of do we need to regulate, I would say lets see if anyone posts that they have probs with the downloading of the sigs. To my knowledge, 7S people have DSL or Cable, but correct me if I'm wrong. And then, I would say that everyone should just use discretion in how large their sigs are, out of respect of those who are on dial-up.

I would suggest putting a regulation on the size of sigs, but also on the size of the file which is the sig. I can make animated paint sigs which are about 25-30 seconds in length but keep them smaller in file size than a lot of normal non-animated sigs. It all depends if its a gif file with a lot of colours or a bitmap image with a large variety of colours in an image.
For example the sig i currently have is so small in size it does not display how big it is =)
Dust's 5$ CDN, which is my 2 cents US$

Ok, I went through and checked the size of everyone's sig (only the ones that actually post, not all that are registered). Here's the list, and my apologies if I have forgotten someone. Also, the size may be off 1K, as I did not round these, just took the first two numbers.
Lawless: 15K, 442x150 Anja: 48K, 500x150 BigJohn: 41K, 401x302 Brooke: 18K, 400x150 D-Day: 59K, 500x155 Dust: n/a, 350x100 LittleJohn: 28K, 489x205 Nitro: 35K, 346x208 Rat: 5K, 400x150 Swampfox: 22K, 337x213 Flash: 62K, 400x124 Sarge: 15K, 450x97 Stryker: 16K, 400x157 Zulater: 35K, 450x100 BShanahan14rulz:11K, 512x102 Bitshot: 27K, 400x150
In going along with what Dust said, the file type in which they are saved matters a lot. Take for instance Dust's and Zulater's sigs. Both are made in Paint, and where Dust's sig doesn't register a size, Zulater's is 105K. The difference: Dust's is saved as a gif and Zulater's is saved as a bmp. And then of course there is the whole explaination regarding colors....
So, I guess if those people that have a large sig/file size want to go ahead and reduce them....that way those who visit the site on dial-up (does Sportsguy still drop by? ;D) won't be waiting forever for the page to load.
Oh and BTW.... **hands Dust his 2 cents back** (j/k, thanks for the input)
